Innovative Solutions for In-Situ Microbial Decontamination
Planreal continuously develops new products and optimizes existing ones through laboratory analyses and field trials. Our focus is on the in-situ microbial elimination of pollutants in soil and groundwater.
Through our scientifically-grounded approach and combination with various remediation methods, we ensure the highest efficiency, sustainability, and an economical as well as long-term effective reduction of contaminant loads.
Remediation Additive for
Microbial Pollutant Degradation
metaGain is an innovative remediation additive to support the microbial degradation of BTEX, PAHs, phenols, total petroleum hydrocarbons, and MTBE in contaminated aquifers. The formulation utilizes electron acceptors, such as nitrates, and also contains nutrients and trace elements that promote the growth and activity of microorganisms. Special buffering substances stabilize the environment in the aquifer and create optimal conditions for efficient biological pollutant degradation.
Individually Developed Formulation
Each metaGain formulation is developed site-specifically. Based on the geochemical data, we calculate the electron donor and electron acceptor capacities in the aquifer and precisely adapt the composition to the respective contamination. This creates a customized solution that optimizes the balance of microbial processes and sustainably accelerates pollutant degradation.
Application Methods
Injection as a Solution (20-L containers): metaGain is typically delivered in 20-liter containers, diluted with hydrant water, and injected directly into the monitoring wells. This method allows for rapid and uniform distribution in the target horizon.
metaGain Depots for Long-Term Release: Alternatively, we offer metaGain in a depot form that is placed in groundwater monitoring wells. These depots release electron acceptors and nutrients in a controlled manner over a longer period. This allows hotspots in the aquifer to be treated in a targeted way and local remediation goals to be achieved efficiently.
metaGain is particularly suitable for the remediation of:
- BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes) – classic gasoline components.
- PAHs (low molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons).
- Phenols or hydroxybenzenes.
- Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) – especially diesel and heating oil components.
- Aliphatic hydrocarbons – components of fuels and mineral oils.
- MTBE (Methyl-tert-butyl ether) – a typical gasoline additive.
Advantages of metaGain in microbial decontamination:
- Targeted stimulation of the existing microflora through electron acceptors, nutrients, and trace elements.
- Optimized environment through integrated buffering substances.
- Flexible application: as an injection solution or as a long-term depot.
- Site-specific adaptation based on geochemical site data.
- Sustainable approach, as natural microbial processes are utilized and enhanced.
